Your First Aesthetics Consultation: Goals, Costs, and Questions to Bring

You do not need to know which product you want before an aesthetics consultation. It is more useful to explain what you notice, what you would like to change, and what you want to preserve. Bring photographs of yourself that help explain your goals, rather than expecting to reproduce someone else's face.

Describe the result in your own words

Tell the clinician whether your concern is expression lines, facial volume, lip shape, or another feature. Mention any previous treatments and how you felt about the outcome. A clear plan should explain which concern a proposed treatment addresses and which concerns it will not address.

Ask about the exact treatment

Product names matter. Ask what will be used, where it will be placed, and why it is appropriate for you. Discuss alternatives, including choosing no treatment. A consultation should give you space to decide rather than make you feel committed to a procedure that day.

Understand the quote before agreeing

Ask whether pricing is by unit, syringe, area, or appointment and request the estimated total. Confirm what follow-up is included and whether further treatment would be separately charged. If you are comparing quotes, compare the same product and treatment scope.

Discuss risks and recovery

Injectable treatments are medical procedures. For dermal fillers, the FDA describes common effects such as swelling and bruising and rare serious complications, including injury from unintended injection into a blood vessel. Ask how your clinician reduces risk, what symptoms need urgent attention, and who to contact after treatment.

Bring the details that affect your plan

Have a medication list and information about allergies, previous procedures, and relevant health conditions available. Mention upcoming events and travel. Do not stop prescribed medication on your own to prepare for a cosmetic appointment; ask the prescribing clinician and treating provider for guidance.

Book the conversation first

Explore Aesthetics: Refined Beauty and select the relevant consultation in IntakeQ. Check your location and practitioner before confirming. Leave with an understandable plan, realistic expectations, and the information needed to make your own decision.

General educational information. Your clinician will advise on suitability, risks, and an individual treatment plan.
