Your First Laser Hair Removal Visit: What to Ask Before You Book

The most useful first step in laser hair removal is a conversation about your skin, hair, treatment area, and expectations. A package tells you how many visits you are purchasing. It does not, by itself, tell you which device or settings are appropriate for you.

Which Candela device is at your location?

NPOC has Candela Nd:YAG equipment in Baltimore and Waldorf. GentleMax Pro is available in Baltimore. If you are interested in a specific platform, choose your location accordingly and confirm the plan during your complimentary consultation. Device selection remains an individual treatment decision.

What should you tell your provider?

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends discussing recent tanning, a tendency to scar or develop keloids, cold-sore history, and medications before treatment. Ask about experience treating people with your skin coloring. Bring your medication and skincare list, and mention any recent treatment in the same area.

How should you prepare?

Ask for written preparation instructions when you book. Avoid tanning and discuss sun protection with your provider. Confirm the instructions for shaving and other hair-removal methods rather than guessing when to prepare the area. If your skin has changed since the consultation, contact the team before your appointment.

Eight or ten sessions: what does the package mean?

NPOC's current laser packages contain eight or ten sessions. Ask which areas are included, how visits are spaced, what happens if you need to reschedule, and whether maintenance is priced separately. The number of purchased visits is not a guarantee of a particular result. Your provider should explain realistic expectations and the reasons a plan might change.

Questions worth asking before payment

Ask for the complete package price, the exact treatment area, the expected interval between appointments, and the cancellation terms. If you are comparing providers, compare those details as well as the advertised number. Two packages with the same number of sessions may include different areas or follow-up arrangements.

Ready for the next step?

Open the laser service page and choose a complimentary consultation. Select Baltimore or Waldorf in IntakeQ, review the service and practitioner, and choose an available time. Bring your questions; you should understand the plan before deciding on paid treatment.

General educational information. Your clinician will advise on suitability, risks, and an individual treatment plan.
